Catherine and Rob had the most beautiful wedding last weekend at Chukkar Farm! The weather couldn't have been any more perfect for their outdoor ceremony and reception. Catherine made sure that all the little details were taken care of (and they were stunning!). There were bulb string lights hung all across the courtyard, and so many pretty little vintage touches, like the flower vases and outdoor "living room"! But one of my favorite details from their day was the live painting Catherine had commissioned of their first dance! It was the first wedding I've shot that had a live painter present, and it was so cool to watch (and see the end result). Huge congrats to this sweet couple, your wedding was a blast to photograph - I especially loved getting to experiment with sparklers at the end!! Thanks for letting me be a part of your day!
I've had so many people ask me about my wedding and how it was to be on the other side of things for a change. I spend so much time documenting other people's weddings, it was so strange for it to finally be time for my own! Being a part of so many celebrations for other people really helped me narrow down exactly what I wanted when it came time to planning our day. We ended up having a small ceremony with just family and our closest friends - and it was wonderful. The day was relaxed and fun - and it went by SO fast. But, my favorite part of the entire day was when Taylor and I read notes to one another. We didn't write our own vows for our ceremony (mainly because I thought I would cry and didn't want to blubber in front of everyone :)) but I still wanted to have a personal element to the promises we were about to make one another. So, we decided to share some personal vows privately during our first look and it was one of the best decisions we made (and I did cry so I'm really glad we didn't do it during the ceremony lol). It is so special to have those letters that we can keep now - and SO special that we have video of it thanks to our amazing videographers at WedFlix. I know some couples choose not to have a first look - but it was wonderful to be able to see Taylor and have that time alone together and I wouldn't trade that for the world. If you're not wanting to do a first look, I totally understand that - but I'd still recommend that you make time at some point during your wedding day to take just a minute alone with your new spouse and tell them how much they mean to you and how you feel. The wedding day zooms by and it helps slow it down a little to take a few minutes to take it all in :) Scroll on down to see the video!!
If you'd like to see a little highlight video from our day, here's the link to our amazing trailer! I'll share more pictures soon!
Heather and Colby got their start in a unique way...they met on Tinder! But it didn't take either of them very long to realize they had found someone special, and they've been together ever since. They got married on a gorgeous day at Proctor Farm in Rome...and Heather looked absolutely stunning in her Essence of Australia gown (that back detailing was so gorgeous!!). I think one of my favorite details of the day though was when they SHOT OFF A CANON after their ceremony. Such a unique and fun memory to have!! Talk about heading into marriage with a bang!!
It was a blast working with you Heather and Colby - I'm so thankful you let me be a part of your special day. Here's to many happy years for you guys!!!
